DFA members have supported Sen. Obama from the very beginning, which earned him one of the first “Dean Dozen” endorsements for his 2004 U.S. Senate race.
Obama for America has been fueled by millions and millions of activists and small donors, making it the first presidential campaign truly run and funded by the American people since Howard Dean’s revolutionary 2004 campaign. With such overwhelming grassroots support, Sen. Obama will run a White House independent of corporate lobbyist influence and truly answerable to the American people.

Governor Jon Corzine is running for re-election. Jon is a Marine veteran and former U.S. Senator who fought for veteran’s benefits, co-authored the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to respond to corporate scandals, and voted against the Iraq war.
As Governor the past four years, Jon has expanded children’s access to health care, provided property tax relief for seniors, invested in public infrastructure, and fought to protect our environment and generate clean energy. Jon is progressive yet fiscally conservative and has streamlined New Jersey’s budget, proving that government can do more with less.
He supports marriage equality, stem cell research, gun control laws, and women’s right to choose. In the next four years, Jon wants to create jobs, provide health care for all, invest more in education, and make college more affordable.

Marianne Rampulla and Chan Leung are running as a slate to take back the Raritan Township Committee. They want to represent progressive Democrats on the municipal committee and improve the services offered by the township while restoring fiscal responsibility.
Together they will work to create green jobs, invest in more open spaces, provide affordable housing for citizens, and protect the environment.

Tracey Lewis is a licensed Pennsylvania attorney who has experience in real estate law and the medical malpractice division. Tracey has served as Susquehanna Township’s Third Ward Commissioner since March 2008 and is now running for Magisterial District Judge of Dauphin County.
Tracey is deeply involved in the community and has fought to revitalize neighborhood parks to increase recreational opportunities for communities and helped establish a support program for women and disadvantaged businesses. Tracey will bring a fresh perspective to the magisterial district judge’s office by working with local government, police, and the community to be smart on crime, rather than soft or tough on crime. Tracey will also increase the efficiency and transparency of the court.

Dawn Rivers Baker is a successful businesswoman and active volunteer in her community. She is a member of many Democratic groups and is running for Sidney Town Supervisor. Dawn wants to bring openness and transparency to Sidney’s Town Council and reinvigorate the local economy. These are tough economic times and Sidney is still struggling to recover from the 2006 floods. The Republicans have dominated local politics for far too long and do not have any new ideas for Sidney. Dawn will work hard to improve our community and the lives of Sidney residents.

Doug Singleterry has been a Councilman in North Plainfield, New Jersey since 2005 and is running for Somerset County Freeholder.
The Republicans have held every Freeholder seat since 1982 and as a result property taxes are too high and spending is out of control. Doug will put a stop to corruption in county government and restore responsibility, accountability, and transparency to Somerset County.

Linda Underwood is running for Rensselaer County Legislature, District 4. The daughter of a union member, a progressive Democrat and a union member herself, Linda will fight for the rights of women and labor and speak up for those whose voices have been ignored.
Linda currently serves on the Schodack Central School District Board of Education and now she’s ready to take her leadership experience and deliver result in the County Legislature. She will work to make county government more open, create green jobs, improve public transportation, and fight for equal rights for all citizens.

Cecilia Birge has been the mayor of Montgomery since 2007 and is running for Somerset County Freeholder. She is the first Asian American mayor in New Jersey. Now she’s working to be another first, because not one Somerset County Democrat has been elected to the Board of Freeholders for 30 years.
This one-party rule has brought scandal after scandal, yet no one has been held accountable at the ballot box. When we elect Cecilia in November, we’ll drive real change at the local level. Cecilia will make government work for taxpayers and bring competent, ethical government to Somerset County.

Kaye Kory has been a citizen of Fairfax County for more than 30 years and has been deeply involved in the community, from counseling troubled youth to working on housing and anti-poverty issues. She has served on the Fairfax School Board for the past ten years and is now running to represent the 38th District in the House of Delegates.
Kaye will fight to protect funding for education, address our transportation problems, and protect our environment. She will work hard to create green jobs in Virginia, provide access to preventative health care services and health care for all children, and cut the costs of higher education.

Catherine Chambers has resided in Bellingham for 30 years and has been deeply involved in the community, from serving as a precinct committee officer in the local Democratic Party to volunteering to help people in need. Catherine is a strong progressive and one of the original founders of the local Democracy for America group.
Catherine believes the most important investment we can make is in our communities. She’ll work to protect our environment, provide a living wage to workers, and invest in infrastructure and transportation systems. She wants to provide for our most vulnerable citizens, invest in waterfront development, and ensure clean drinking water for all residents.

A strong progressive and former organizer for Asheville’s local Democracy for America group, Cecil is running for Asheville City Council. Cecil is well known in Asheville as an award-winning investigative journalist and a green builder.
In these tough economic times, he wants to create a sustainable economy by bringing green jobs to Asheville, promoting local foods and manufacturing, requiring a living wage for city employees, and making buildings more energy efficient.

TJ Thomson is well known throughout Idaho as an engaged citizen and respected policy analyst, program evaluator, and community organizer. TJ has become a visible advocate in Idaho’s community. He offers forward thinking and proactive governance to the City of Boise.
In this difficult road ahead, under tough economic times, the City of Boise needs a strong advocate for its citizens. TJ can be that voice. While working as the lead grassroots organizer for the Obama campaign in the state of Idaho, TJ traveled the state and made it his job to listen to the people of Idaho. He learned about their concerns and discussed ideas for improving the problems Boise faces. TJ believes Boise should be the safest, most livable city in America, with the best schools available for our children. As the place where he intends to spend the rest of his life, he wants to be a part of crafting a strong structure for both today and tomorrow.

Wayne Marek was born and raised in Morris County, New Jersey and is running for the State Legislature in the 26th district. He serves on two committees for the Morris Plains Board of Education.
Wayne supports marriage equality and women’s right to choose, and will fight for New Jersey’s middle and working classes. His goals are to reduce property taxes, encourage municipal consolidation, and better utilize our resources by sharing services with other municipalities, school districts, and counties.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Amir Farokhi is running to represent all the citizens of Atlanta in the City Council. Amir understands what can make a city great: access to affordable housing, abundant parks and public spaces, a solid education system, and a strong economy. He understands the needs of the community and will work hard to create green jobs, support small businesses, improve the transportation system, and make government finances more transparent.

With 20 years as a dedicated public official, Ruth is currently in her sixth term as a State Representative. A progressive legislator, Ruth stood up for the most vulnerable citizens of the Commonwealth. She supports marriage equality, women’s right to choose, and mental health parity. Now she’s ready to put her leadership experience to work as Mayor of Newton.
Her top priorities included improving public schools and protecting the rights of senior citizens and the disabled. Ruth will work to ensure that city government works and end the erosion of the quality of city services. She wants to repair the infrastructure, invest more in libraries and public schools, and make the city greener by preserving natural resources. Ruth knows how to bring people together for common purpose, solve problems, and bring about responsible change.

Major John Bell served in the United States Air Force for 25 years and helped to ensure that the most critical military missions received funding. John is going to turn this long-held Republican seat blue. His opponent, current Republican delegate, Bob Marshall, has ignored Virginia’s transportation and education problems, instead choosing to focus on denying basic rights to women and gay couples. John has a transportation plan to reduce Virginia’s terrible commutes and he wants to create jobs, develop renewable energy industries, and help small businesses succeed.

Longtime community leader Gary West has spent his legal career taking on big corporations and government bureaucracies on behalf of the people. His work representing workers suffering from occupational lung diseases continued when he became Chairman of the Regulations Committee of the Newport News, VA Planning Commission.
He is now running for the Virginia House of Delegates to take action on transportation problems, support education and confront the gang violence problem in Newport News.

Mark Keam was born in Korea and came to the United States at the age of 14. Having lived in countries that did not have a democratic form of government, he chose to devote more than 20 years helping to elect Democratic candidates to office.
Mark is a strong progressive who wants to strengthen our economy, make the necessary long-term investments to improve transportation, and provide a world-class public education to Virginia’s children. If elected, Keam will become the first Asian-American member of the General Assembly.

Joe Bouchard served the United States Navy for 27 years and commanded Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval base. Bouchard has represented the residents of the 83rd District of Virginia since 2007 but the Republicans are doing all they can to win his seat this November. Joe wants to advance the progressive agenda in a way that is fiscally responsible and supports robust economic growth. He supports the rights of women and labor unions, investing in a green economy, and enhancing transportation planning so that our tax dollars are spent wisely.
