My personal volunteering highlight:
Our recent campaign to get congressional candidates to sign on to the Responsible Plan to End the War on Iraq successfully convinced six candidates to endorse the plan (in addition to four who signed on before us) -- more than any other state has in total.
Steps I've taken to combine on-line and off-line action:
I founded the Florida Democratic Party Netroots Coalition, an organization designed to train offline activists how to use online tools to achieve progressive goals. I also regularly post real-world action opportunities on my blog.
Why I want to attend Netroots Nation:
To arm myself with the wealth of knowledge available from the workshops and to bring as much of that information as possible back to my fellow Floridians.
What I want to get out of Netroots Nation:
Information, expertise, inspiration, contacts.
What is a progressive activist:
Someone who wants to use the power of our collective efforts and our government to help solve societal problems and make people's lives, both in America and abroad, better, safer, more productive and more fulfilling.
How I think blogs fit into the progressive movement:
They are the frontline in getting information and advice to activists, are a key tool in fundraising and are the best way to recruit people and keep people involved in the movement.
How I think Democracy For America fits into the progressive movement:
It is a key organization providing infrastructure and training to progressive activists both inside the Democratic Party and outside for those who may not feel comfortable working within the party.
In 10 words or less, create a bumper-sticker slogan against John McCain:
It'll only take McCain four more years to complete Bush's job.

Why I Deserve a Scholarship to Attend
I have three children, including one with Asperger's syndrome and in the Bush economy, I have trouble finding a full-time job. I am the best liveblogger in the South and can help bring the Netroots Nation experience to many who can't attend.
